The tool suits short edits, product videos, Stories, greetings and brief tutorials. It has a media library, separate video and audio tracks and a preview. Combine photos with videos in the order you need.

How to edit a video for free: a quick guide

Add files: choose videos, images or music from your device using the media button. They appear in the library.
Build the timeline: add clips to a track, move them into place and drag their edges to trim. Use Split to cut in the middle.
Adjust audio: select an audio clip to change volume, mute or unmute, and add fade-in or fade-out.
Add text and transitions: create a text layer, choose font and colour, and optionally a rounded background. Apply a subtle transition between video clips.
Check and export: watch from start to finish, export and download. Keep the editor open during export.

Trim and join videos online

To remove the start or end, select the clip and drag an edge. To remove a section in the middle, position the playhead, split at both ends of that section and delete it. Then move the remaining clips together.

For longer videos, zoom out on the timeline, scroll to the relevant section or jump to the end. Undo takes you back a step; on a computer you can also use Ctrl+Z.

Add music and text to a video

Music can accompany a product video or photo sequence, but speech should remain clear. Add audio on a separate track, adjust its volume and check that mute is off. Use only music you have permission to include.

Text is a clip you can move and time. Place it on a separate text track above the video so it appears on top. Change font, size and colour, add an entrance animation and choose a background with square or rounded corners. Text entry and editing are manual; automatic transcription is not included.

Adapt videos for Stories, Reels and widescreen

Choose an aspect ratio for your destination: 9:16 for vertical Stories and Reels, 16:9 for widescreen and 1:1 for square video. 4:3 and 3:4 are also available.

Changing the ratio may leave borders or crop the image. Select the image or video and adjust framing; on touchscreens use two fingers to move, scale and rotate. Check that faces and titles remain inside the frame before downloading.

Video editing on a phone or computer

The mobile interface keeps the preview and timeline available while working. Computers have more room for tracks; phones support touch and scrolling between tracks. Performance depends on your device, video length and file encoding. Shorter videos and moderate file sizes are easier to edit smoothly.

If a file will not open, try MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio, or another current browser. Input and download format support depends on the browser; export may be MP4 or WebM. Export runs in real time, so longer videos take longer.

Privacy and finishing your project

Media is processed in your browser. The videos, images and music you select are not sent to our server for editing. Selecting fonts may load a font from Google Fonts.

Projects are not saved. Export and download your finished video before leaving or refreshing. Closing the editor window and returning to the article on the same page keeps the current edit available to reopen, but there is no recovery after reloading. Use Restart at the bottom of the editor to clear the work and begin again.
